Vooruit dooft licht tijdens Earth Hour / Vooruit turns off the lights for Earth Hour
Op zaterdag 28 maart 2009 tussen 20:30 en 21:30 doven 1 miljard mensen in meer dan 1000 steden over de hele wereld een uur lang alle lichten. Met de symbolische actie Earth Hour wil WWF aantonen dat we samen het verschil kunnen maken in de strijd tegen de klimaatverandering. Ook Vooruit doet zijn duit in het zakje.
On Saturday the 28th of March 2009 between 8.30 p.m. and 9.30 p.m. 1 billion people in more than 1000 cities across the globe will turn off the lights for one hour. With the symbolic action Earth Hour, the WWF wants to demonstrate that together, we can make a difference in the battle against climate change. Vooruit is happy to contribute to this event.
Omdat er op zaterdag activiteiten plaatsvinden in de Balzaal en Concertzaal, is het helaas onmogelijk alle lichten te doven. Wél zullen we de buitenverlichting doven en dimmen we het licht in het Café. In het Café gebruiken we sowieso zo veel mogelijk LED-verlichting, een energiezuinige lichtbron.
But because events will take place in the Balzaal and Concertzaal on Saturday, we are unable to turn off all lights. What we will do is switch off the façade lighting and dim the lights in the Café. In the Café we already use as much LED lighting as we can, because this saves energy.
De komende jaren zul je ook op andere, vaak verlichte plaatsen in Vooruit LED-verlichting zien opduiken. Vooruit wil verder investeren in theaterspots in LED-versie. Die verbruiken een pak minder dan de standaard theaterspots. Binnenkort zal je deze en andere inspanningen op het vlak van ecologie kunnen volgen op de Vooruitwebsite.
The following years you will see LED lighting appear in other frequently lit places in Vooruit. Vooruit also wants to invest in LED theatre lighting. These use a lot less energy than standard theatre lights. Soon you will be able to view these and other ecological projects on Vooruit’s website.
