AnySurfer prijst toegankelijkheid Vooruitsite / AnySurfer praises accessibility of Vooruit website
AnySurfer (kwaliteitslabel, verderzetting BlindSurfer) controleerde in 2008-2009 336 Belgische websites op toegankelijkheid. De website van Vooruit mag het lijstje vlot toegankelijke sites aanvoeren met een score van 76%. Ook de website van Rock Werchter en Spotter staan in de top-3 (met resp. 75% en 74%).
AnySurfer (quality label, formerly BlindSurfer) checked the accessibility of 336 Belgian sites from 2008 to 2009. With a score of 76%, Vooruit is the most accessible Belgian site. The Rock Werchter website and Spotter.be complete the top 3 (with a score of respectively 75% and 74%).
“Communicatie via het internet biedt enorme mogelijkheden”, reageert Vooruitdirecteur Stefaan De Ruyck, “maar veel webdesigners zijn zo gefascineerd door de toeters en de bellen dat hun websites niet meer leesbaar zijn voor een aanzienlijk deel van het publiek. Ik ben erg blij dat Vooruit niet in die val getrapt is. Hoewel het onderliggend systeem behoorlijk complex is, blijft de website erg overzichtelijk en gebruiksvriendelijk. Dat sluit perfect aan bij de filosofie van Vooruit: wij willen een eigenzinnig maar open huis zijn waarin mensen makkelijk hun weg vinden. Het is fijn om horen dat AnySurfer onze inspanningen op dat vlak weet te waarderen.”
“Communication on the internet offers enormous possibilities,” says Vooruit manager Stefaan de Ruyck, “but a lot of web designers are so preoccupied with how a site looks, that the site becomes inaccessible for a large part of the audience. I’m very happy that Vooruit didn’t make that mistake. Even though the underlying system is pretty complex, the website has a clear structure and is really user-friendly. This reflects Vooruit’s philosophy perfectly; we want to be a unique and open arts centre where people can easily find their way. It’s nice to know that AnySurfer appreciates our efforts in this field.
