Vooruit-exe

Vooruit heeft een traditie in het verlenen van compositieopdrachten en het (co)produceren van muziekproducties. Dit voorjaar coproduceert Vooruit samen met de Beursschouwburg een nieuw project van de Gentse componist Johan Derycke. Die is vooral bekend van zijn solo-muziektheatervoorstellingen en zijn live muziekbegeleiding bij wielerwedstrijden (Cyclophonics). Als hevige fan van Buster Keaton werkt hij nu aan een score voor Go West. Op dinsdag 23 februari te zien in Vooruit!

Vooruit has a tradition of commissioning compositions and producing or co-producing music productions. This spring, Vooruit and the Beursschouwburg are co-producing a new project by Ghent composer Johan Derycke. Derycke is mainly known for his solo performances combining music and theatre and his live musical accompaniment to cycling events (Cyclophonics). Seeing he’s big fan of Buster Keaton, he’s currently working on a score for Go West. Watch it live at Vooruit on the 23rd of February!

Huisfotograaf Reinout Hiel legde de passage van het Young@Heart Chorus in Vooruit vast.

Eind september presenteerde No Theater en het Young@Heart Chorus End of The Road in Vooruit, een samenwerking met les ballets C de la B en het Festival van Vlaanderen Gent. Het koor heeft een geschiedenis in Gent. Hun eerste doortocht dateert van 1998 (op uitnodiging van Nieuwpoorttheater). De zangers van Young@Heart stonden ook al tweemaal op de planken in Vooruit. Deze keer was er een extra link met Gent: Wim Van de Cappelle, technicus-scenograaf bij les ballets C de la B, ontwierp het decor en les ballets co-produceerde de voorstelling End of the Road.

At the end of September, No Theater and the Young@Heart Chorus performed End of The Road, in collaboration with les ballets C de la B and the Flanders Festival Ghent. The chorus has a thing with Ghent. They first performed here in 1998, on the invitation of the Nieuwpoorttheater. They also have performed at Vooruit twice. This time, there was an additional connection to Ghent: Wim Van de Capelle, technician and scenographer for Les Ballets C de la B, designed the sets and Les Ballets C de la B co-produced End of The Road.

In december 2008 organiseren vzw Etoiles Polaires en Vooruit opnieuw een muziekfestival. Ditmaal zal de aandacht gaan naar de muziekscene van Montréal in Québec, Canada. We trokken naar Montréal om die scene grondig te verkennen.

In December 2008, Etoiles Polaires asbl/vzw and Vooruit will again be organizing a music festival. This time around, the focus will be on the music scene in Montreal in Quebec, Canada. We made the trip to Montreal to explore the ins and outs of that scene in detail.
