Op zondag 24 januari danste Rosas in Vooruit een benefietvoorstelling van The Song, de jongste creatie van Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. De opbrengst van de ticketverkoop bedraagt 6388 euro. Dat bedrag zal integraal worden overgemaakt aan de solidariteitsactie Haïti Lavi 12-12 van het Belgisch Consortium voor Noodhulpsituaties.

On Sunday the 24th of January, Rosas performed a benefit show of The Song, the newest creation by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, at Vooruit. The proceeds of ticket sales amounts to 6388 euros. This sum will be donated to the solidarity campaign Haiti Lavi 12-12 of the Belgian Consortium For Emergency Relief.

Op vrijdag 16 november gaat de nieuwe voorstelling van beeldend kunstenaar / theatermaker Kris Verdonck in première. Met een knipoog erbij belooft Kris dat het een ‘wereldhit’ zal worden. Het is in elk geval zo dat Verdonck en zijn kompanen nog intensief verderwerken om I/II/III/IIII te voltooien. De voorstelling is (zoals steeds bij Verdonck) erg beeldend.

Friday the 16th of November will see the premiere of artist / director Kris Verdonck’s new show. He’s already jokingly said that the show will be “a world-wide hit”. However, Verdonck and his crew are indeed working hard to improve I/II/III/IIII, a show which will be very expressive, like all of Verdonck’s previous work.

Meg Stuart bracht vanavond de wereldpremière van haar nieuwe creatie Blessed, een productie van Damaged Goods en EIRA – in coproductie met Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz (Berlin), PACT Zollverein (Essen), Centro Cultural de Belém (Lisboa), Théâtre de la Bastille (Paris), Festival d’Automne (Paris) en Kunstencentrum Vooruit. Van 29 maart t/m 1 april 2007 is Vooruit is de gastheer voor ‘SUM/SOME of the parts’, een pleiade van huidige en recent afgestudeerde dansers en choreografen van PARTS, aangevuld met werk van docenten van de internationale dansschool, choreografen die langer geleden afstudeerden en de oprichter Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker zelf.

From 29 March until 1 April 2007, Vooruit is the host for ‘SUM/SOME of the parts’, a series of current and recently graduated dancers and choreographers of the dance school PARTS, along with some creations of PARTS teachers, choreographers who graduated several years ago and of founder Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker herself.

Voor een reeks bijzondere voorstellingen ben ik dezer dagen afgezakt naar Boekarest, hoofdstad van Roemenië. De stad kent zeer boeiende ontwikkelingen op het vlak van de hedendaagse dans. Met radicale artiesten als Manuel Pelmus, Mihai Mihalcea, Edouard Gabia en Cosmin Manolescu ontstaat er een scene als uit het niets. De oprichting een jaar geleden van het Centrul National al Dansului, het eerste centrum voor hedendaagse dans, betekende de eerste stap richting erkenning.

I am in Bucharest, capital of Romania, for a series of extraordinary performances. This city is enjoying some very exciting developments in contemporary dance. A scene has suddenly taken shape, as if out of nowhere, with such radical performers as Manuel Pelmus, Mihai Mihalcea, Edouard Gabia and Cosmin Manolescu. The creation of the Centrul National al Dansului, the first contemporary dance centre, a year ago, was the first step towards official recognition.
