Vooruit-exe

De Gentse theaterperformancegroep Ontroerend Goed maakt voorstellingen die vrolijk morrelen aan de relatie tussen de makers en hun publiek. Door te verrassen, te confronteren en tot een persoonlijke invulling te dwingen, willen de de makers van OG het publiek een “oorspronkelijke theaterervaring van nu” bezorgen. En daarmee oogsten ze inmiddels internationaal erkenning. In 2011 bestaat OG 10 jaar, en dat mag gevierd! Van 5 t/m 9 oktober 2011 presenteert Vooruit de beste (of meest spraakmakende) performances uit het OG-oeuvre. Hét moment om een voorstelling als A game of you in te halen of om je favoriet opnieuw te zien.

We verklappen al dat er op woensdag 5 oktober een verrassende ‘late night’ voorstelling aan het programma wordt toegevoegd: jonge makers waar OG graag mee samenwerkt, Charlotte De Bruyne & Nathalie Verbeke, spelen dan de première van ‘XXXO’. Meer info volgt .

Van 25 t/m 29 oktober 2011 zet Vooruit danser-choreograaf Marc Vanrunxt in de kijker. Vanrunxt timmert aan zijn eigen oeuvre sinds 1980 maar is ook in voorstellingen van andere choreografen/makers blijven dansen (zoals Thierry Smits, Catherine Massin of Jan Fabre). De jongste jaren legt Vanrunxt zich toe op de creatie van solo’s (zoals Unspeakable voor Kitty Kortes Lynch uit 2003, Deutsche Angst voor Etienne Guilloteau uit 2005 of Lamentatio voor Marie De Corte uit 2009). Maar hij overtuigde ook met vb. Raum uit 2006, een performance door Etienne Guilloteau, Eva Kamala Rodenburg en Gabi Sund op muziek van Morton Feldman met interventies door beeldende kunstenaars Koenraad Dedobbeleer en Kristof Van Gestel.

Binnenkort op papier. Nu al online, vlot te doorbladeren dankzij Issuu, de seizoensgids van Vooruit: het seizoen 2011-2012 in Vooruit (met gedurfde vormgeving van Mathias Timmermans). Het programma staat ook al op onze website!

Cobra.tv interviewde Charlotte Vanden Eynde in de Domzaal van Vooruit over haar nieuwste voorstelling I’m Sorry I’m Sorry It’s (Not) A Story. Sinds 29 januari beschikbaar via Cobra.be, een nieuwe themasite en dé cultuurhotspot van de VRT.

Op zondag 24 januari danste Rosas in Vooruit een benefietvoorstelling van The Song, de jongste creatie van Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. De opbrengst van de ticketverkoop bedraagt 6388 euro. Dat bedrag zal integraal worden overgemaakt aan de solidariteitsactie Haïti Lavi 12-12 van het Belgisch Consortium voor Noodhulpsituaties.

On Sunday the 24th of January, Rosas performed a benefit show of The Song, the newest creation by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, at Vooruit. The proceeds of ticket sales amounts to 6388 euros. This sum will be donated to the solidarity campaign Haiti Lavi 12-12 of the Belgian Consortium For Emergency Relief.

Claire Croizé won de eerste prijs van de Prix Jardin d’Europe 2009 met The Farewell. De 4-koppige internationale jury van dansprofessionals (Pieter T’Jonck, Charlotte Vandevyver, Ula Sickle & Christa Spatt) motiveert die keuze als volgt:

Claire Croizé has won the first prize at the Prix Jardin d’Europe 2009 for The Farewell. The international jury of 4 professionals working in the contemporary dance scene (Pieter T’Jonck, Charlotte Vandevyver, Ula Sickle & Christa Spatt) explains:

“she succeeds in giving an equal importance to the elements of dance, lighting and music in confronting the major with the minor and likewise the minor with the major. The performance has the potential to reach a large public without watering down the choreographer’s artistic integrity.”

Op 7 mei gaat de nieuwe voorstelling van Dolores Bouckaert & Bernard Van Eeghem in première in Vooruit: Cast Shadow. Het wordt een onderzoek te gronde: wie is Bernard en wie is Dolores? Zijn ze inwisselbaar? Het duo repeteert vanaf begin in Vooruit (foto) en gebruikt de Domzaal voor de eindmontage.

On the 7th of May, the new show by Dolores Bouckaert & Bernard Van Eeghem, Cast Shadow, will premiere at Vooruit. The show tries to find an answer to the questions: Who is Bernard? Who is Dolores? Are they interchangeable? The duo has been rehearsing in Vooruit and will use the Domzaal for final editing.

Onze seizoensafsluiter is de premièrereeks van Grey Gardens door De Koe (17 juni). In een bewerking van auteur Paul Mennes tackelen ze de documentaire ‘Grey Gardens’‘van Albert en David Maysles, over twee excentrieke aristocratische vrouwen die een smerig, vervallen en afgezonderd landhuis bewonen in East Hampton, New York. De Koe werkt met een even uitzonderlijke als spannende cast (Nico Sturm, Jan Decorte, Sigrid Vinks en Sien Eggers) vult de Koe deze keer de grote Theaterzaal. Ondertussen gonst het van de bedrijvigheid achter de schermen.

We will close off the season with the premiere series of Grey Gardens by De Koe (June 17). In an adaptation by Paul Mennes, De Koe tackles the documentary ‘Grey Gardens’ by Albert and David Maysles, which tells the story of two eccentric female aristocrats living in squalor in a decrepit, isolated mansion in East Hampton, New York. This time, De Koe will perform in the Theaterzaal with an exceptional, exciting cast (Nico Sturm, Jan Decorte, Sigrid Vinks and Sien Eggers). Meanwhile, Vooruit is buzzing with activity behind the scenes.

In het winternummer van TiensTiens, de andere k-r-ant van Gent, doen 2 jonge dansers hun verhaal: Pieter Ampe (26) en Femke Gyselinck (25). Beiden zijn opgeleid aan P.A.R.T.S. en na omzwervingen in het buitenland aan het werk in hun thuisstad Gent. Pieter Ampe vertelt o.m. over zijn plannen bij Campo. Femke Gyselinck verwijst terug naar the game is up! 08, waar At Large in première ging. (En we zien haar de komende zeker nog in Vooruit opduiken!) In the winter edition of TiensTiens, an alternative Ghent magazine, you can read an interview with two young dancers: Pieter Ampe (26) and Femke Gyselinck (25). Both trained at P.A.R.T.S. and returned to their hometown Ghent after a period abroad. Pieter Ampe talks about his plans with Campo among other things. Femke Gyselinck refers to the game is up! 08, where At Large premiered – and we’re sure we’ll see her again soon in Vooruit! The game is up! is naar jaarlijkse gewoonte een platform voor een aantal internationale podiumkunstenaars die er hun werk voor het eerst in België presenteren. Nieuwe vormen (van vrijheid), nieuwe engagementen, nieuw werk (ook van oude bekenden), nieuwe teleurstellingen (sorry), nieuwe ontroering, nieuwe verwachtingen, nieuwe verwarring (goed bedoeld), nieuwe voorstellingen, nieuwe veronderstellingen (het gaat echt goed zijn), nieuwe vooroordelen (overwonnen en bevestigd), nieuwe veroordelingen… Het zijn maar enkele van de beloften waarmee we het nieuwe podiumseizoen in Vooruit lanceren. Op onze publieksdagen in mei knopen we (zoals steeds bij het einde van het seizoen) een gesprek aan met onze (trouwe) Vooruitbezoekers.

New forms (of freedom), new commitments, new work (including work by old friends), new disappointments (sorry), new emotion, new expectations, new confusion (well meant), new exhibitions, new assumptions (it’s going to be really good), new presuppositions (overcome and confirmed), new prejudices… Just a few of the promises with which we launch the new performance season at Vooruit. At our public days in May, we will be talking (as we always do at the end of the season) to our (loyal) Vooruit visitors.
