Vooruit-exe

Vooruit heeft een traditie in het verlenen van compositieopdrachten en het (co)produceren van muziekproducties. Dit voorjaar coproduceert Vooruit samen met de Beursschouwburg een nieuw project van de Gentse componist Johan Derycke. Die is vooral bekend van zijn solo-muziektheatervoorstellingen en zijn live muziekbegeleiding bij wielerwedstrijden (Cyclophonics). Als hevige fan van Buster Keaton werkt hij nu aan een score voor Go West. Op dinsdag 23 februari te zien in Vooruit!

Vooruit has a tradition of commissioning compositions and producing or co-producing music productions. This spring, Vooruit and the Beursschouwburg are co-producing a new project by Ghent composer Johan Derycke. Derycke is mainly known for his solo performances combining music and theatre and his live musical accompaniment to cycling events (Cyclophonics). Courtisane is terug met het jaarlijkse festival voor (korte) film, video en mediakunst, na enkele kleinere activiteiten op verschillende locaties in binnen- en buitenland, o.m. in Vooruit: Without a trace – Erase/delete met een live performance door Pierre Hébert (CA).

Courtisane is back with its annual festival for (short) film, video and media art, after a few smaller events on several locations in Belgium and abroad, including Without a trace – Erase/delete with a live performance by Pierrre Hébert (CA) at Vooruit.

Het festival opent feestelijk op donderdag 23 april om 18u in de Bank van de Arbeid (Voldersstraat), waar de tentoonstelling A Simple Truth loopt. Aki Onda (JP) brengt er zijn 4 uur durende geluidsperformance ‘Cassette Memories’ als brug naar een goedgevulde avond met live performances in Vooruit: An evening on… memory – Past Imperfect.

The festive opening of the festival will take place on Thursday the 23rd of April, 6 p.m. in the Bank van de Arbeid (Voldersstraat), where you can see the exhibition A Simple Truth. Aki Onda (JP) will perform his four-hour sound performance ‘Cassette Memories’ which will be followed by an evening full of live performances at Vooruit: An evening on…memory – Past Imperfect.

Vooruit en het Filmfestival Gent presenteren met trots de derde Almost Cinema. Van 7 tot 18 oktober slingert er zich opnieuw een installatieparcours door Vooruit (tot in de ex-snoepwinkel vlak naast Vooruit), tonen we een reeks performances die schuren langs cinema en staan er concerten, talks en een symposium (‘mutating media’) op het programma.

Vooruit and the Ghent Film Festival proudly present the third edition of Almost Cinema! From the 7th to the 18th of October you can explore the installation trail making its way through the Vooruit building (and into the former candy shop next to Vooruit), enjoy performances indebted to cinema and concerts, talks and a conference (‘mutating media’).
