In 2009 nam Vooruit het initiatief om enkele gelijkgestemde organisaties in binnen- en buitenland samen te brengen in een informeel netwerk, onder de naam WEB. Het gaat om wpZimmer (Antwerpen), Kunstencentrum BUDA (Kortrijk), Frascati (Amsterdam), Fabrik (Potsdam), Hebbel am Ufer (Berlijn), 104 [CENTQUATRE] (Parijs) en Uzès Danse (Uzès). Bij de partners wordt aangevoeld dat de preproductionele fase als een zware last op de schouders van onafhankelijke artiesten ligt. Ze moeten zich vaak bezighouden met alle facetten die het opzetten van een project behelzen zoals budgetbeheer, het zoeken van financiële partners, artistieke planning, residenties zoeken, etc—of ze daarvoor nu de nodige competentie bezitten of niet. In feite is die knowhow wel aanwezig bij de partners van WEB. We delen de ambitie om voor een beperkt aantal artiesten per jaar de opvolging van A tot Z te doen, zodat ze voor één keer hun project op poten kunnen zetten zonder verloren te lopen in de rompslomp van boekhouding en meetings.

In 2009, Vooruit took the initiative to bring together a number of like-minded organizations in Belgium and abroad in an international network called WEB. The participating organizations are wpZimmer (Antwerp), KC Buda (Kortrijk), Frascati (Amsterdam), Fabrik (Potsdam), HAU (Berlijn), 104 (Paris), and Uzès Danse (Uzès). The partners agree that the pre-production phase is a heavy burden for independent artists. They often have to take care of all the aspects of their projects, including budget planning, finding financial partners, artistic planning, finding residencies etc. whether they are skilled to do so or not. However, the WEB partners do possess this knowledge. We share the ambition to follow up a selection of artists from A to Z during an entire year, so the artists can focus on the realization of their project without getting lost in the administrative labyrinth of meetings and finances.

Kunstencentrum Vooruit ondersteunt (jong) talent en biedt artiesten een platform aan om te onderzoeken, te experimenteren. Zo ook in het pop- en rocksegment. Het Gentse heavy metal trio Drums Are For Parades zal een jaar lang Artist-inresidence zijn in Vooruit. Op onregelmatige basis zal de band artistieke acties ondernemen en presenteren op en ook naast onze podia. De ideeën variëren van live tot online performances, interventies, video’s, concerten en streaming. Ook zal het trio de kalender van Vooruit nauwlettend in de gaten houden om er af en toe een evenement uit te lichten, er een extra aan toe te voegen of in te breken in een format. The Vooruit Arts Centre supports young talent and offers artists a platform for research and experimentation. This also goes for pop and rock artists. Ghent-based heavy metal trio Drums Are For Parades will be Vooruit’s artist in residence for one year. The band will perform and present artistic actions on and around our stages at random moments. The ideas will vary from live to online performances, interventions, videos, concerts and live streaming. The trio will also keep a close eye on the Vooruit programme, selecting an event every so often, adding extra content to it, or meddling with a format. These actions will take place under the name Drums Are For Parades selects and can be followed on vooruit.be or on drumsareforparades.wordpress.com.
