Vooruit-exe

Op 7 mei gaat de nieuwe voorstelling van Dolores Bouckaert & Bernard Van Eeghem in première in Vooruit: Cast Shadow. Het wordt een onderzoek te gronde: wie is Bernard en wie is Dolores? Zijn ze inwisselbaar? Het duo repeteert vanaf begin in Vooruit (foto) en gebruikt de Domzaal voor de eindmontage.

On the 7th of May, the new show by Dolores Bouckaert & Bernard Van Eeghem, Cast Shadow, will premiere at Vooruit. The show tries to find an answer to the questions: Who is Bernard? Who is Dolores? Are they interchangeable? The duo has been rehearsing in Vooruit and will use the Domzaal for final editing.

Onze seizoensafsluiter is de premièrereeks van Grey Gardens door De Koe (17 juni). In een bewerking van auteur Paul Mennes tackelen ze de documentaire ‘Grey Gardens’‘van Albert en David Maysles, over twee excentrieke aristocratische vrouwen die een smerig, vervallen en afgezonderd landhuis bewonen in East Hampton, New York. De Koe werkt met een even uitzonderlijke als spannende cast (Nico Sturm, Jan Decorte, Sigrid Vinks en Sien Eggers) vult de Koe deze keer de grote Theaterzaal. Ondertussen gonst het van de bedrijvigheid achter de schermen.

We will close off the season with the premiere series of Grey Gardens by De Koe (June 17). In an adaptation by Paul Mennes, De Koe tackles the documentary ‘Grey Gardens’ by Albert and David Maysles, which tells the story of two eccentric female aristocrats living in squalor in a decrepit, isolated mansion in East Hampton, New York. This time, De Koe will perform in the Theaterzaal with an exceptional, exciting cast (Nico Sturm, Jan Decorte, Sigrid Vinks and Sien Eggers). Meanwhile, Vooruit is buzzing with activity behind the scenes.

Zaterdag zijn in Vooruit vier goden van de elektronische muziek neergestreken: Lucio Capece, Mika Vainio, Kevin Drumm en Axel Dörner. Ze komen oorspronkelijk uit verschillende continenten, maar hebben elkaar in Berlijn – nog steeds het mekka voor veel muzikanten wegens goedkope huur en veel speelplekken – ontmoet. Ze werken hier voor het eerst samen. Na hun concert in de Domzaal op 8 mei 2008 in co-productie met (K-RAA-K)³ (een double bill met Heleen Van Haegenborgh & Esther Venrooy) trekken ze voor concerten naar Parijs, Grenoble, Strasbourg en Venetië.

Last Saturday four gods of electronic music landed in Vooruit: Lucio Capece, Mika Vainio, Kevin Drumm and Axel Dörner. Although originally hailing from four different continents, they met while living in Berlin – still a Mecca for musicians thanks to the low rent and its many concert venues. They will be working together for the first time here. After their gig in the Domzaal on the 8th of May 2008 in co-production with (K-RAA-K)³ – a double bill with Heleen Van Haegenborgh & Esther Venrooy – they will go on to play gigs in Paris, Grenoble, Strasbourg and Venice.

In het voorjaar en de zomer van 2008 werk(t)en heel wat artiesten aan nieuwe projecten in de studio’s van Vooruit: deepblue neemt in Vooruit de aanloop naar de première van You are here, Dolores Bouckaert werkt aan een voorstelling die volgend seizoen in première gaat, ook Miet Warlop bereidt een project voor dat volgend seizoen in Vooruit te zien is (de voorlopige titel is Creatures), Bent Object (Peter Van Hoesen en Susanne Bentley) test in Vooruit Below 20 uit, een performance rond controle en immersieve omgevingen en Alain Platel bereidt in de Theaterzaal zijn nieuwe grotezaalvoorstelling voor. Het collectief C&H (Christophe Meierhans, Heike Langsdorf, Christoph Ragg m.m.v. Ulla Sickle) koppelde zijn residentie in april aan toonmomenten tijdens Courtisane festival – in het kader van de Courtisane tentoonstelling ‘Re-make/Re-model’.

In the spring and summer of 2008 plenty of artist will work – or have worked – on new projects in the Vooruit studios: deepblue is working towards the premiere of You are here, Dolores Bouckaert is working on a performance that will premiere next season, Miet Warlop is also preparing a project which will be shown at Vooruit next season (working title: Creatures), Bent Object (Peter Van Hoesen and Susanne Bentley) will try out Below 20, a performance focusing on control and immersion and Alain Platel is preparing his next big show in the Theaterzaal. The C&H collective (Cristophe Meierhans, Heike Langdorf, Cristoph Ragg; in collaboration with Ulla Sickle) combined its April residence with previews during the Courtisane festival, as part of the Courtisane exhibition Re-make/Re-model.
