Vooruit-exe

Van 17 t/m 25 juni 2011 organiseert timelab opnieuw een Summercamp i.s.m. Vooruit en met steun van het Europees Fonds voor Regionale Ontwikkeling via het Interreg IV-project Transdigital. Het thema? Hoe kunstenaars de publieke ruimte herwinnen. De generieke stad rukt op, straten en pleinen worden ingepalmd door marketing en toerisme. Hoe kunnen stedelingen (opnieuw) ruimte opeisen? Kunstenaars kunnen een activerende rol spelen in het herwinnen van (onderdelen van) de openbare ruimte. Dat is het startpunt van Summercamp Electrified 2011, een 10-daagse intensieve ontmoeting tussen 12 lokale en internationale (jonge) kunstenaars met de stad Gent als setting en timelab als motor.

De kunstenaars die worden uitgenodigd voor de Summercamp hebben uiteenlopende achtergronden. Wat de kunstenaars met elkaar gemeen hebben is een open geest en een groot enthousiasme om hun werk te presenteren, de stad te onderzoeken en te zoeken naar uitwisseling en ontwikkeling van ideeën in een korte tijdspanne.

Duurzaamheid, ecologie, cradle to cradle, …. Vooruit schaart zich graag achter projecten die de leefbaarheid en levenskwaliteit van mensen opschroeven. Na initiatieven als How to save the world in ten days, Dikke-truiendag of Donderdag Veggiedag geven we van 11 maart tot 21 maart 2010 graag het woord aan ontwerpers en kunstenaars met een hart voor duurzaamheid, recyclage en schone dingen. Onder de noemer ekomotiv 1.0 mag organisator Kowboy Kaos vzw het publiek laten kennismaken met ‘gestyled duurzaam leven’ via een expo, workshops, lezingen, open ateliers en pop-up shops.

Sustainability, ecology, Cradle to Cradle, … Vooruit is eager to support projects that improve people’s comfort and quality of life. After projects such as How to save the world in ten days, Warm Sweater Day and Thursday Veggie Day, we will now put the spotlight on designers and artists with a heart for sustainability, recycling and beautiful objects from the 11th until the 21st of March 2010. Under the name ekomotive 1.0, organizer Kowboy Kaos vzw wants to introduce the audience to a ‘stylish sustainable life’, with an exhibition, workshops, lectures, open studios, and pop-up shops.

In het kader van het muziekfestival China Express slaat het Institute for Living Voice (ILV) zijn tenten op in Vooruit voor een reeks workshops met artiesten die tijdens het festival zullen optreden.

Institute for Living Voice will take residence in Ghent, Vooruit, as part of the music festival China Express which is completely dedicated to the fascinating country of China.

ILV is een internationale organisatie die workshops, masterclasses en lezingen organiseert voor zowel professionele als amateurzangers, in 2001 opgericht door David Moss en Muziektheater Transparant. De eerste editie van ILV vond ook plaats in Gent, naar aanleiding van de productie die zangeres-stemkunstenares Diamanda Galas in opdracht van Vooruit maakte in het Gentse Gravensteen.

Institute for Living Voice is an international project of Music Theater Transparant dedicated to the richness of the vocal art. Under the artistic leadership of David Moss it brings vocalists from different genres together for workshops, masterclasses and lectures. The first session of ILV took place in Gent, in collaboration with Vooruit, for the project of Diamanda Galas in the Counts’ Castle (commissioned by Vooruit).

Deze zomer verzamelden zich 17 kunstenaars uit binnen- en buitenland gedurende in week in Gent voor de eerste editie van Summercamp Electrified, een samenwerking tussen Vooruit en Timelab. De stad diende als vertrekpunt voor inspiratie en actie. Na een dag van introducties werd er uitgezwermd over de stad (van de haven tot het Sint-Pietersstation) en kregen kleine ideeën elke dag meer vorm.

Last summer, 17 artists from Belgium and abroad gathered in Ghent for the first edition of the Electrified summer camp, a project by Vooruit and Timelab. The city served as an inspiration and a basis for action. After an introduction day, the artists swarmed out in the city, from the harbour to the Sint-Pieters station, and small ideas took shape day by day.
